The Saga is Complete May 19th

I just saw the Revenge of the Sith trailer at the end of the O.C. on Fox. And now I'm glad I have both a Hyperspace subscription and my PVR card, because I'll probably watch it again a dozen times tonight.

Random thoughts after one viewing:

1. "Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?" The venom in this question from Supreme Chancellor Palpatine (to I assume Mace Windu) is going to be a classic. Like "These aren't the droids you're looking for. Move along..." I'll have to see if I can work it into casual conversation with my coworkers tomorrow (maybe some will stop razzing me for not updating my blog more often, and about unhealthy snacks--you know who you are).

2. Vader crossing his arms at the end of the trailer. Like a caged tiger... caged in a black iron lung.

3. The clones. You can definitely see an improvement in CGI over the past three years, plus there's a pretty good bridging of the clones from Episode II through to Episode IV (Star Wars, for the less fan-geekish).

4. Obi-Wan's scream: "You were the Chosen One!" An admission by Obi-Wan that he did believe that Anakin was the Chosen One; I sort of believed that Obi-Wan didn't fully buy into that in Episode II. At the same time, the past-tense "were" in it implies that when he yells it, Obi-Wan fully believes Anakin has become the "twisted and evil" Vader already; I don't get a sense that comment was designed to bring Anakin back.

5. The perpetual scowl of Anakin. Is he ever happy? I might not like the kiddie version of him in Episode I, but gee whiz, he has become a moody SOB. You have to wonder what Padme sees in him (of course, this could be part of the reason why I still believe there is no on-screen chemistry between Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen).

More after I absorb the trailer a few more times...
